CW Machine Version 3.7.40
Additional keypad functions which use the <*> key as a prefix further increase the flexibility of the logging logic. Take a look at the updated documentation:

CW Machine Version 3.7.38
A new message command, \+, lets you store information in the log as part of a message. This can save some keypad strokes in contest exchanges. The <*> key, when used as a prefix to the <+> key lets you store two words of information without concatenating them with a hyphen. That way you can easily store a QTH lilke LOS ANGELES or a name like JEAN CLAUDE “in flight”. The Iambic B timing now allows an earlier release of the dot paddle at the end of characters which end with dah-dit, similar to the timing of an AccuKeyer and other popular keyers. CW Trainer Version 2.0.1
The CW Trainer has received a major upgrade. The most visible new function is CW-over-IP: two CW Machines with the CW Trainer can connect over the Internet and have a QSO. If you are a beginner, this is a way to practice QSOs with an elmer off the air, and if you are an advanced user, this is a way to ramp up your speed with a sparring partner without QRM and the framework of a normal QSO. Take a look at the documentation to see how this works:

Learning CW with the CW Machine by IK0YGJ
Carlo Consoli, IK0YGJ, a well known and highly accomplished CW operator, has used the CW Machine for a while now, and he liked it so much that he decided not only to produce a video clip showing it in combination with his Intrepid bug, but also to write an addendum to his book, Zen And The Art of Radiotelegraphy, to reflect the unique capabilities of the CW Trainer. This guide to learning CW will be a part of the documentation that comes with the CW Trainer package. Take a look:

USB Serial Adapter
The CW Machine connects to a computer through a standard RS232 serial port. However, many computers, especially laptops, do not have “native” serial ports any more. Many inexpensive USB-serial adapters cause problems with the CW Machine, and we have normally recommended the Keyspan adapters for use with the CW Machine. One other adapter has proven to work as reliably as the Keyspan models, and we are glad that we can offer you this adapter with your purchase of the CW Machine now. The drivers for this adapter will be provided on the CW Machine installation CD.
