Officina Meccanica Begali has been manufacturing electro-mechanical precision components since 1960, and our line of fine keys and paddles for the ham community are a more recent addition. They are a result of Piero’s desire to create the finest keys and paddles for his own use. Piero obtained his ham radio license as I2RTF in 1964. Ever since he has been a dedicated CW operator, and it was only natural that one day he would try to design and produce the best Morse keys that money can buy ... A more recent addition to our line of products is the most advanced electronic keyer on the market, the CW Machine.
Our keys and paddles are in use around the world by operators of all skill levels. Here is a link to an article on the ARRL website, written by our friend Bob Bastone, WC3O, that recounts the story how Piero donated a Signature paddle to the ARRL on a memorable train ride to Connecticut. Our flagship key, the Sculpture, has been featured in an article in the Wall Street Journal, and there is even a video clip that shows Chuck Adams, one of the fastest operators in the world, and his Sculpture key in action!
Here’s another video that shows our friend Carlo Consoli, IK0YGJ, crusing along at 50wpm with his Sculpture key to get his final QSOs for EHSC. Few keys in the world will allow sustained operation at these speeds without fatigue ...
This site will show you all of our keys and paddles and the CW Machine, and you are able to order everything online.
